Japfest @ Mondello

Postby leamyj » Tue, 01 Sep 2009 1:37 +0000

Ollie was in touch with Mazda yesterday in relation to sponsorship for attending the japfest event @ mondello next weekend. It seems that there has been some personnel changes in their organisation since our previous correspondence with them, hence the lack of response on our "ask mazda" thread!!

Below is the reply he received and there is no evidence of differentiation between mazda and eunos, so it may be worth a try?? Olive branch anyone??

Comments please, and try to be civil about it

Hi Ollie

Many thanks for your email, which I received this morning. I am very interested in continuing to build a productive relationship between MX5 Ireland and Mazda Motor Ireland and I hope that we can work together on this one for the purposes of mutual gain.

We would be happy to sponsor MX5 Ireland directly for inclusion of the ten cars and will endeavour to gain a defined zone for you to pull together a dedicated MX-5 paddock.

I would ask that you would commit to the following:

· Provision of the Cars

· Your co-operation in the use of underwheel flags (see attached)

· We would also like to position windtalkers next to your display (big picture stands – see example attached) to celebrate 20 years of this classic true sportscar.

· If there is a cavalcade drive at the event and we would like to brand a top and tail car or a lead car and encourage a drive by if possible.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards.

Sinead Farrelly

This could be an opportunity to start communication between ourselves an mazda Ireland, even the Northern Troubles necessitated people talking to each other, so please consider giving this your support.

John

PS I do not intend to offend anyone by equating our differences with Mazda with the past events in Northern Ireland

PPS more info on the event itself...sorry about short notice by the way

Hi John,
I had a text from Ollie this morning on this and I can't see why we wouldn't get involved. It can do us no harm to be be seen as being open and willing to talk and, in the long run, if it means creating a better relationship with Mazda then all the better for that. Bearing in the mind the short notice, it would be good to have a good turn-out and it might be seen as being a positive step from us.

Sign up here to attend Mondello on Sunday:

Hi Ann,

Of course we know that the 5 is all about fun and we don'r have to get political about it and we certainly should not be dictated to on this. If anything were to prove that we don't need to politicalise MX5 Ireland, then last weekend is a case in point. We can and should remain independent of anyone else but that shouldn't mean we can't talk, especially if it is to our advantage.

Still think we should move on Ollie's initiative and out in a show at Mondello.

Shur you could bring your red shoes to light up the day!

I'm on a week off work, and I think I'm rostered for return on Sunday. I shall go in tomorrow and see if I can get it changed, mondello is only 10 mins from my house. If anyone wants to come Saturday night I'll arrange accomodation, and no, it's not the tent in my back garden, but we might just do that if necessary!!

John

PS The target is 10 cars, as per the e-mail above!!

That means another 5/6, C'mon 5'rs lets make a day of it and let them see how good the 5 is on the Mondello track. I expect that's where they'll hold the drive-by.

Is the car painted yet Fergus? This would be a great opportunity to show the fruit of your labour, and us of course.
