Hey cloggy

thanks for the ref. they look fine, a bit basic, and cheap as chips, still it's up to the gang here really.

I've received confirmation of 10% discount from Irish Ferries if we can get 10 cars to travel together. So far we have 5 defs

Steve, Me, Allen, Cloggy, Kieran

3 poss defs

ann, PJ, and pascal

and the rest I have no clue!

so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to make the 10!

Just to update you all!

Did a bit more research to help all you guys with your budgeting and a big thanks to Cloggy for the cheap chalet link. I've mailed them for a confirmed price.

This is a potential cheap and cheerful option ..

Totals per person sharing, assuming 2 in each car, for 6 nights assuming we get the 10 cars

Ferry 151.20
Accomodation 120
Fuel and Toll 103

Total €374.20

I got the toll charges and fuel from http://www.autoroutes.fr/en/preparatives/routes.html

This assumes a stop off at Bordeaux, which would get my vote hmmmm Bordeaux!!

I think the key here is, double up, halve the costs and lets get lots of cars going!!

Shena, Cloggy ..thanks a million.

This is looking more and more possible for me thanks to your budgeting. Right, I will try and confirm my body for car otherwise I may have a seat up for grabs!

Doubling up may be the way to go...

Bordeaux..hmmm, yes I'm thinking is a fine place to stop..good call Shena.

Ok, IoM is a no-go this year as the steam packet won't do any weekend sailings from Ireland due to poor business in previous years. Last year we got 17 cars with the IoM run, so I will email the very keen Uk attendees to see if they're up for joining us. We might well get a few from there also. I'll invite them to join us on this forum and add their names. Fingers crossed...

I'd be up for that on the way back but it's a long auld way from Carcassone to Cherbourg  and only 2.5 hours from Blanes to Carcassone .. sounds like a lovely mountain run for lunch to me :D

What about ...

Tues/Weds Roslare/Cherbourg

Weds night .. somewhere around Bordeaux

Thursday arrive in Blanes

Friday - off to F1 for those who want to see the qualifying

Saturday - off to F1 for those who want to see the qualifying .. poss Carcassone for those that don't?

Sunday - off to F1

Monday night .. somewhere whest of Bordeaux/ perhaps Clermont-Ferrand or east, La Rochelle maybe?

Tuesday evening Ferry home (sob)

Maybe??

Guys

Latest price from our friends in Irish Ferries

Car and driver - EUR237.50 including a berth in a 4 bed cabin
Car and 2 people - EUR297.00 including a berth each in a 4 bed cabin

I will only need €100 per car to hold these fares but need 10 cars! So far I think we have 8 nearly defs.

Was chatting to some of you and there is a second lot of dates being bandies around which is Thursday 19th to the 26th or 28th.

IFR don't car which cars go on which ferries but if we end up not filling a 4 birth the fares might go up slightly.
