Ivan's cancelled

Postby robmx5 » Sat, 19 Jul 2008 9:13 +0000

Folks,

Have just had a text from Ivan - he's had to cancel today so no meet at Ivan's. If anybody's interested in going for a short spin, somewhere, I would be interested in tagging along.

I'm getting confused here, thought you were unable to make it or did I get it wrong?? Anyway, can't be sure of contacting everyoine else so I'm gonna head to Ivan's for 11, my mobile 0872656053. Give me a shout around then and we'll see who turns up

WELL!! Just got back from the mini-meet and it was a great little run. We met at Ivans as planned and Ivan even turned up ( in a bit of discomfort may I say.. A real trooper and martyr to the cause, had nothing to do with the fact that his friend wanted to work on the boxster)

Headed towards the M50 and turned off for Blessington, Headed through Kilbride and left at Courtown for Sallygap...some great hairpins on this road!! Got stuck behind a bloody tourist in a micra for ages, eventually got past and turned right at the crossroads in the gap, heading for Laragh....Awesome roads and scenery, a few stops along the way for piccies. Got to Laragh and headed to Glendalough for lunch, full of tourist buses , no parking, went back to Laragh and had a beautiful lunch in a restaurant situated beside the main road..thoroughly recommended for future runs! Lunch over, headed for the Wicklow gap , short stopa t top and then the best bit..THE DESCENT... quiet roads, top down, ZOOM,ZOOM.
Thanks to all who came along.. PADRAIG, SHENA, ROBIN AND CLOGGY.
HERE'S TO THE NEXT ONE..GOOD LUCK WITHT HE MIDLANDS RUN, I'LL BE ON HOLS FOR THAT ONE

+1 John

What a great day, I actually got a bit of serious zoom zoom out of my car .. not saying it will happen again, helps to know the roads but I did feel like I was in a 4x4 some of the time with the surface being so bumpy.

I especially liked the bit from Glendalough back once we got past those cars .. that was serious fun ..

Really looking forward to Midlands now .. but warning, I'm at the back

Oh and it was Great to meet more faces .. Padraig and Robin .. hope to meet you guys again soon ..

Cloggy, hope you made it back on time for the wedding!

Excellent day and thanks to everyone. Going over the M50 with three Mx5's side by side was pretty cool. Pity they didnt have five lanes !! Wow the weather really held up for us. That pub we stopped at for lunch is called The Wicklow Heather for future reference. All the best, Padraig

Came home just as Sofie predicted at 18:00.
I loved the run, bit of cruising, bit of bruising...

Nice to meet Padraig & Robin. Does anyone know what is so special about Robin's firstname and surname?
This is truly amazing

I'm itching for a caption with this one Shena. I'll tell ya with the Midlands Run... Can someone guess what it is yet?

On this one we did actually some formation driving over the 3 lanes of the M50. You should have seen us. WE LOOKED GREAT!!!!

Here 'little' Robin jumped all the way on my boot to have a sneaky peak at the interior...

We were discussing the potential of forming am MX5 formation driving team :P how many configurations can you have with 5 cars??
Considered calling it the RED ARROWS , but it seems that that name has already been taken

Great Day

Postby robmx5 » Sun, 20 Jul 2008 12:24 +0000

Well folks, thanks to all for a superb run yesterday, enjoyed the drive and the company. Weather looked a bit dodgy at times but the rain held off and the sun even came out. Fair play to John for choosing the route - yes that last bit from Glendalough to Blessington was a blast. Hopefully get my photos up later - nice shots Robin !!

Looked like you lot had fun.

Thanks to Lynott for helping out my dad.

Frank turned up at 12.10 wondering where you lot had gone
and why you had left so early. Thinking you were meeting at the
travel lodge
Then Anto fitz turned up at 3.50pm wondering where everyone was
thinking you where meeting at 3pm.
One person make a plan early on and stick to it next time.
