Idea for meet? Mini track day for "newbies"?

Postby shadowhearth » Mon, 27 Jul 2009 1:09 +0000

Hey lads, i got an idea.

Friend from DTDIRL gave me some info on it!

There is a small drifting track in kilkenny. Even if you whant go alone its only 50eu per day. Its not crowded, so if our club would book it, i can bet we would be the only ones on it!

http://goldstonedrift.webs.com/

I dont know how to drift at all, but i whant to learn, its alot better then doing it on back roads! This place would be perfect for poeple who whant to know what theyr 5 can do!

So what you think? Would be awesome day out for us, location is briliant aswell!

Hi Everyone--- In reply to the Track Days
This is approx 10 mins from my home the track is run by a very nice family called The Stone,s . Father & Son big into drifting and racing its where the locals go to let off steam in a safe and secure environment. They also offer carting . Personally im not into drifting but i can recommend this venue perhaps we could organise a meet sometime later on in the summer. I was thinking mabye a weekend as theres plenty of B/B & Camping is located in Kilkenny about 20 mins drive. 5 minute drive brings you into Castlecomer from the track plenty of cafe,s we have Restaurant Etc. And we also have a new Museum open on coalmining in this area if you wanted to go along. Carlow is approx 14 Klms .

I can make some inquerys on the above for people interested but i must have numbers attending Etc also a select date

Awe damn it... why can I never resist a challenge? You'd think growing up with two older brothers would have thought me a thing or two

I wouldnt advice going to Goldstone in road cars, especially if your not an experienced drifter! There is absolutely no run off around the track, which is fairly narrow throughout.
I would class it as a track car place, where you dont mind bumping the the tire walls, which more than likely will happen.

If it's not suitable then I wouldn't mind driving a Kart around it, have a get-together if nothing else!!

Its a bumpy oval track, wouldn't be much fun on a kart, I'd suggest some where like kilmore karting.

Bear in mind this is a concrete track so it's very harsh on tyres. I'd head down for a bit of go-karting but wouldn't take my car out on it.
