5pm at Potin Still, Rathcoole ?

That should get us on the way before the bulk of the traffic

Frank,
Rathcole is on the M7/8 (Cork) road, why are you going that road to Galway?

Poitin Still is our regular 'central' point for Dub-side folks. We can easily skip to the N4 via Adamstown to Tesco in Maynooth and pick up northsiders from there + fill with petrol. That should have us in Oranmore by 8pm.

Hey guys,
Couldnt make it on friday or saturday due to a friend of the family who passed away. Reading your updates on the run- sounds like your all having a blast. I'll be there tomorrow to join you all in the burren/fanore run. Hope tomorrow is as sunny as today.

Just in the door after what can only be described as a magnificent day, driving and weather. It was tops down all the way and the scenery was to die for, thankfully nobody did but a couple of sheet had a close call. Couple of late drop-outs left 15 cars heading out from Oranmore. Through the city and out the coast road and a quick stop to take in the sea air and a breathtaking view of the Burren. Moving on we took a left off the coast at Casla and up to Maam Cross where it was market day. All human life was there including a few chickens for sale, all the tools you'd ever want, plants to grow in your garden and even some fresh fish - picked up a Kilo of fresh crab claws so guess what's on the menu tomorrow. From there we headed to Leenane - what a road and views you wouldn't believe. There was something on in the village, which left not much parking space so kept going on to Westport and a much welcomed pit-stop at The Quays for a leisurely lunch in the sun. Leaving Westport we took the coast road to Louisburg and again scenery that would be hard to surpass. From there we made out way past Killary and back to Leenane with the coast to our right and mountains above us on the left and what a drive this was - twists and bends, ups and downs - a road designed to get the best out of our 5's. After a brief stop we headed back towards Galway but because of a mechanical pit-stop the group split with a few cars heading on to Cong and the rest taking a road between a gap in the mountains and back to the coast road and a stop in Spideal for a petrol re-fill and a stretch of the legs before heading back to base in Oranmore. Because of another commitment I headed home and left the rest of the gang to head back to their accommodation for a quick freshening up and, I'm sure, a night on the town. Tomorrow, they head off for another feast of scenery in The Burren - that's if the heads allow  and the good news is that weather is to be like today. Certainly a day to remember and one to add to the diary for another day's driving.

What a totally awesome day out
This is the type of run that stays in the mind forever :thumleft:

IT WAS PERFECT !

So... I'm not going to say much right now and Tom was spot on :salut:

I'm just chilling out after 5 hours sleep followed by 15.5 hours of driving up & down Ireland and the MAJORITY of that with the top down ! Over 650kms !!

We took a few photos of some clouds as they were very few and far between.
I look red now but tomorrow I'm going to be like a tomato

We've got 146 photos (634MB) and 70 videos (3.58Gigs) to sort out so.....watch this space

(PS) The weather is going to be even BETTER today (Sunday) so have a great day out there fokes and try to keep all four wheels on the road.... well, at least the front two :thumright:

Well what a weekend.....absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The weather Gods really smiled on us for this weekend and the company was brilliant. :alien:

Many thanks to everyone for making it for the 2 day run. This is the kind of gathering/run that makes it very enjoyable to be a part of. :D 8)

A special thanks to Dave/Steve and others for sorting me out when my clutch slave cylinder gave up the ghost..... Thankfully made it back to Oranmore(just) and to the safety of some competent 5 mechanics....

Thanks to everyone for this weekend....twas fab... :bom: 8)
