Pity, its definitely something I want to do at some stage.

Its normally treated like a toll road right, you pay a toll for one lap?

Stenna line do a land bridge from Dublin - hollyhead
Then Dover -Calais that cost 400euro in total.
we stayed overnight in Britian.
From Calais to the ring is about 5 hours drive
but all motorway at 130kph...
we stayed in the hotel at the ring 99euro a night.
You can get 100octane petrol there.

It's well worth the trip, i'll go again before the end of the year :D

Glad you enjoyed it Ivan. Also glad you're back safe. Was watchin some vids of Nurburgring on Youtube at the weekend and it looks nuts.

did you manage to get any clear(ish) runs? the amount of different traffic on the track looks a bit scary

It is nuts, way more nuts than it looks on youtube.....
there is no way you would get a clear run, you would have to be doing it in under 9mins for that. The motorbikes are the worst
they are nearly leaning on your wing going around corners at 80mph
very very scary. You would need 40 - 50 laps to get your speed up & learn the course.

I only did 4 laps i think it took me 11mins 30sec. on the last one.
You have to do a lap then let the car cool for half an hour.
the smell of toasted brakes and engines in the car park.......

210kph on the autoban on the way back was a buzz
with 911's and audi rs4's booting past....

Ivan, can you confirm the average number of fatalities on the ring each year?
I would love to visit the ring, but for driving it?.. seems rather scary. I believe you could come across anything from a scooter to a camper van in your way.
The one thing I would LOVE to do would be to take the taxi ride with that lady who was on top gear.. Sabine Schmitt I think her name is, and my info is that there is rather a long waiting list for her services .
Anyway, glad to see you back safe and sound. :D
