North West/ Roe Valley Run

Postby Rusty Bike » Sat, 25 May 2013 12:42 +0000

MX5 NI are preparing to visit The Roe Valley and surrounding area on 1 June. Departing Coleraine Riverside Regional Centre around 10.30 and stopping in The Roe Valley Country Park for picnic or lunch at coffee. Afterwards the run continues to the Sperrins and eventually finishes outside Dungiven on the Glenshane Pass around 4.30pm. We invite you to join us for any part of the run and for dinner afterwards in the Roe Park Resort, Limavady. All we need is weather like José Antonio brought with him last year..... or was it Barney that brought it? I hope it was Barney!

Looking forward to this run. As Mary has other commitments on the day, our daughter Rachael will be joining me. A busy weekend for me as our local club, Errigal Vintage and Classic Autoclub, has our annual club day with activities for all ages on Sunday 2nd June in Annagry. I hope to make Coleraine on Saturday morning, but if not we'll get you in Limavady. This is a very handy run for any 5ers in the Donegal area with great scenery and great driving roads.

Not going to be massive turnout simply because we in the North West are the "poor relations". We reckon 15+ cars. However we have 3 newcomers from this area already and you are more than welcome to join us. Weather looking a bit dodgy though. Shame cos we had chosen some great roads. Ring me on 07745127720 if there is anything I can help you with.

A big thank you to John, Estelle, Keith and Kate for organising and hosting a great run today. The weather wasn't kind to us in the morning but we had more dry than wet and at about 45mph it goes over your head anyway. it dried up nicely in the afternoon and we drove some fabulous roads and saw some stunning scenery. We had a great picnic stop in the Roe Valley Park and afterwards we headed into the Sperrins for more of the same. There were 20 cars in total on the run and apart from one little mishap we had a great day. I covered 465kms ( 288mls ) in total from leaving home till i returned. Again, thanks to all involved and it was great meeting so many 5ers. I'm sure i'll meet some of you again in Lisburn on the 29th. I'll post some pics later
