PAS Rack Fitment

Postby gunners5 » Wed, 10 Nov 2010 1:10 +0000

Hi Guys, hope all is well with you all.I recently replaced my PAS rack the other day as it was leaking terribly. Now I marked everything up but, now the steering lock is unequal on both sides when you turn too full lock. When you turn right I have one and half full rotation while left one and a a bit.I undo the pinch bolt on the universial joint rather than the one on the steering column.
The tracking is way off now as well as the left wheel is pointing out so will I redo the job or will tracking sort out the problem, I don't want too get bumpsteer.?

I reckon a 4 wheel alignment should sort it out by centering the rack then correcting toe using adjustment at the tie rod/steering rod (loosen the nut then twist rod).

Thanks Steve. When fitting the rack I tried to keep it central as possible so the splines would connect into the universial joint and on the secondhand rack I had no reference marks for the track rod ends, so tried measuring and counting threads to keep it within range, not the best method.
Il get a full wheel alignment as since the last one I got I have changed the suspension setup.
