Fitting fuel cut-off switch.

Postby John M » Wed, 28 Apr 2010 7:47 +0000

Hi guys,
I want to fit a fuel pump cut-off switch, to my 1.8, 96 MX5
I just want to fit the switch for security.
I can manually shut down the fuel pump-via hidden switch.

There is a white terminal block connector fitted to the top of the pump connector.
It has four cables feeding into it.
Question is which one is the power feed to the pump?

Colours are:
Yellow
Black x 2
Blue with red stripe

The yellow and the blue with red stripe are approximately the same diameter.
The black one's are of lighter diameter.
So i presume it's the yellow or the blue with red stripe.

If someone knows it would be great, and save trial and error.
Regards to all.

Blue-red is the +12v supply, so you could cut into that

Yellow is the sender signal to the fuel gauge
It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world

The answer is in the thread, put a switch across the blue and red wire that's going into the terminal block at the top of the pump
