Sheared bolt... help!

PostPosted: Sat, 09 Aug 2008 4:24 +0000

Hi,

Just removed my old front wing & sheared off the 2 bolts at the bottom in the process. Am thinking of using a screw extractor to get em out - any ideas where I will pick one up?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Bummer! Been there.
I got the Extractor kit in McQuillans. To be honest it was rubbish.
Better off just drilling them out and re tapping them.
Got a tap and die set from www.radionics.ie very good delivery
and you can ring them up to ask questions.

Good luck! :)

Thanks lads. Have the Lidl tap & die set so will try that.

Tried drilling the bolt out but couldn't keep the drill bit anywhere near the middle of the sheared end. Any suggestions?

Simon

Update: My mate Conor who knows about these things came around - used a small bit to make a pilot hole, & drilled it out. We tapped a new thread easily enough - now all I need is to find a coupla M7 bolts and I'm sorted.

Thanks all
