had something similar happen to mine in the past but it was the nub that the catch ..ehh.. catches that had worn down. Some superglue mixed with plastic filings built it up again..

Jees Steve, I have to check this one out next time I see you. Does it really provide enough strenght?

Wish I'd taken some pics of it now... it was on the 1990 I had a couple of years ago.
Basically.. put superglue on the spot you want to build up, sprinkle plastic filings on it.. let it dry.. repeat until it has built up high enough. You can then sand it to shape. I guess you could use JB weld either.. probably easier.. with a bit more drying time but less likely to glue your hand to the table/the car/your eye.

Great tip; as I tried the above over the weekend end the gap is too big, so I'll definitely try adding something along this line (maybe some solder).

PS did ya check the vid off the red Mk1 on the funnies section?
