Driver's Window ProblemJust as I drove into Oranmore yesterday and pressed the button to open the drivers window to talk to Steve, the window went down 2/3 inches and then bang! It stopped and would go no further. It still goes up and down the 2/3 inches but no more. Looks as if it is dropping unevenly and getting caught. I intend to take the door card off this evening but I will be like a crow looking into a tayto bag in that I don't know what I am looking for. Any ideas? I will take photos and post them up if that will help. Thanks
![]() Re: Driver's Window ProblemIt could be that one of the cables popped off its door mounting tab thingy and the window is now getting caught in the loop. If it is this you'll see it straight away.
HTH Steve
![]() Re: Driver's Window ProblemOk. Took door card off and Murphys law, it started working again, so nothing serious. Have popped the door card back on and everything is fine. While I am in there, should I use WD 40 or the like or on the runners or do I leave well enough alone? Thanks
![]() Re: Driver's Window ProblemI'd leave alone unless they are slowing.
![]() Re: Driver's Window ProblemWent back out, not working again. Me thinks it could be the motor as nothing else appears to be amiss. It stopped working altogether in the fully open position but with a bit of switching on and off the ignition, I coaxed it up again. Problem seems to be that the motor packs up when put under a bit of stress, motor gets hot to the touch as well. It would appear to work ok when allowed to cool. Any thoughts? If it is the motor, would need one very quickly to have it changed in time for Barcelona trip.
![]() Re: Driver's Window ProblemAh, might be worth taking out the assembly ams checking threw cables aren't binding round the drum. There was a ' how to' link posted recently. If you get stuck, pop over next sat and I'll have a look.

Ok. Peach is now back in full bloom. Problem sorted. A small cable clip had hopped out of its retaining hole in the door. Just popped it back in and hey presto, all is good. It was the white clip, in the centre of the picture. ![]() While I was at it, I sprayed the channels with this stuff, so everything is now smooth again..... ![]()
![]() Re: Driver's Window ProblemPhew! Thought you might have been in bigger trouble there for a minute.

![]() Re: Driver's Window ProblemNo, all is good, so now where did I leave that polish!!
PS. Steve, If I followed your initial diagnosis, I would have had the problem fixed in no time
