How to remove rust the electrolytic way and using molasses

This is heavy reading but i like to get all the facts first.

Im using a 50 gallon plastic tub filled with water and 2 standard bags of baking soda mixed in well, a stainless chassis rail (only bit i have for now) and a 4 amp battery charger to clean my rear subframe. Positive to the cathode(stainless rail) and negative lead to the anode (my rear subframe). After a week it is totally rust free........this is feckin amazin lads.

Also hear it works as well with molasses mixed in a 9:1 ratio too. No current needed . Thats 9 parts water to 1 part molasses. Think the vid says 10:1 and he seems to be scrubbing alot which is not needed with electrolysis.

Sounds like a great job. Have you had to change the water during the week? Wish I'd though of this a while back.

No, water will last months but dont take my word for it, its all in the link. Ill try to get photos but tbh , there is stacks on it on the net.

Subframe removed from tank, washed and cleaned for painting. No rust at all left.

Wow, now thats a fantastic idea. Wish I had known about this a few years back, would have saved a lot of time and skin. Ah well, makes me want to start doing a full restoration on the 5

one set has standard bushes in which i will replace with the poly-bushes from the other set. Ill have a spare set then.

Washing soda and car battery with 6 amp batt charger. Stainless anode and left for 24 hours. Just brushed right off

yeah its a great way to do it. The molasses is even better as it gets all the bits off the inside too and not just line of site as per electrolysis. Takes ages but is a better process.
