only got good quotes when i actually had the car and told the insurance companies. cant wait to drop the roof

you do need to be awake if tipping on abit in the rain, wet or damp conditions (95% of the time) or you will be in trouble very very quick

remember the old Jackie Stewart lesson, slow in and dont touch the throttle until you can floor it and leave it there. Definately not a tail happy car unless your a ham !

The cars are tail happy when you have a bit of power there like the mk2 does. Or my Turbo mk1?

dont need to learn anything lad so dont preach. ALL cars with power will spin, slip, slide.....crash, if you are inexperienced wet dry whatever. If you dont know the basics, take it easy, slowly, build up you skill level or buy a modern car with abs ebd etc etc etc.
Its like shaving with a cut throat razor, you will cut yourself until you master the skill of doing it properly.

Anyone ever drive a 1.9 205 gti in the wet and back off mid bend? Thats a car you needed quick reactions, not like an mx5.

I'm not preaching, I'm advising. Directing insults at ppl doesnt make you popular or respected. I haven't said anything about a lack of experience anywhere in the conversation. The fact of the matter is that a car as light as these and rwd will be tail happy. No one is arguing that experience is key, that's obvious.

i was the same when i was buying mine 2 years ago when i was 22 they wwanted a fortune when i was pricing it and in the end i took the chance and bought it
and told fbd and they swapped the insurance over no bothers from my mazda 6 at no extra cost
you will love the mk2 i love mine wouldn get rid of it for the world and also the car being tail happy is an advantage loads and loads of fun just be mind it till you get used to it.

I was driving a 1.1 litre 5 door fiesta when I was 18 and was paying €3200 insurance if my memory serves me correctly.

Anyway best of luck with it, enjoy. Easy on the handbrake (top gear reference)

enjoy your 5 and in my experience the most important thing to stay safe in the wet is to invest in decent tyres . €40 euro tyres aren't a bargain when you go backwards through a hedge or worse. ENJOY

Im 18 aswell, your so lucky going to have to try ring around again. I bought a mk 1 but I cant get directly insured on it so I had to register it in my mam's name and use my third party extension, i would love to drive it as my everyday car
