Fitting new Window Regulator.

Postby HectorGraze » Wed, 25 Mar 2015 11:27 +0000

Hi there,
Hope we're all well in Mx-5 land. Well the 98 Eunos 1.6 is on the road, serviced, welded, new rubber and two trips to Cork so it's running pretty well.
NCT next week so it's fingers crossed.

One of the niggly things is the passenger window which needs a new regulator, which I picked up before I put it on the road. So I did some exploratory work the other day to see what's involved.

Before I start I've noticed theres a bend on the rail that the regulator runs down. I never noticed this before but it looks to even to be something bent accidentally.
So my question is, does the regulator's rail have a bend in it? Or is my one damaged!

Many Thanks.

The rails are curved to the shape of a window no weird bends iirc. Your window only would travel as far as the bend if there's one.

Guess they are all like that. Looking at pictures of other ones. Curved is probably a better description.

Are we talking about a very tricky job here?

Anyone in Cork would do a nixer for me?

It's pretty straight forward. Have a look here : http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52280

Well, popped out to Rob on Saturday to pick up a fly window. He kindly showed me how to fit it.
Took about an hour to figure how to put it all back together.
Then with my newfound knowledge, I managed to take the window regulator out and put a new one back in in about 30minutes!

Many thanks for all the help lads.
