Central locking

Postby rockdrummer4 » Sun, 02 Jul 2017 8:56 +0000

Recently bought a 93 mx5, got 1key with it. Its a bit tempermental, sometimes takes a few turns of the key to open door, sometime it opens half!!! Any ideas?

Was looking at it today and noticed that it has the central locking kit installed (but i have no fobs:(...
How can i get these? Can i program keyfobs from ebay?

Or maybe something like this:

Thanks C

93 eunos wouldn't have standard central locking , it was most likely an aftermarket kit .

This would be the type, it includes the two servos to pull/push the door lock

Replacement set of barrels & keys needed, Robert (mx5spares) might have some.
Something like this but maybe you mightn't need the glove box & armrest bit

Heya, when ya say reverse polarity, which colour wires do ya mean?
Tried reversing the blue green to the actuators, (ie blue to green, and green to blue) this seemed to resolve issue with the keyfob button, now lock button locks car, however it still locks, then opens immediately...
If have wiring correct (ie blue to blue, and green to green) then lock keyfob button opens, but then immediately locks again..
I am stumped :(
Would it have anything to do with programming unit

When I installed my Rclick unit I had the same issue. Can't remember how I sorted it, I think I had to reverse wiring on the passenger side only. Sorry my brain doesn't work like it used to before I had kids :D

Thanks for the replies...
Still stumped, i have messed around with it for 3 days now, and still the same..
Got on to the guys i bought it off (ultimatecarparts.co.uk), they gave a few suggestions, no change..
The main suggestion was to wire in the door release so its knows when door is open/shut... (the courtesy lights work fine) didnt make any difference.
Had 2 spare actuators so connected these to the head unit, in case when door mounted was causing the problem, but they behaved the same...
I have a feeling the main unit is gone haywire...waiting to hear back from them..if you could remember what ya did, would prevent a brain meltdown (seriously head wrecked d wih this now)

Well, that's one relay. Is there another in the kit?

Nope just the one....
Do i need this for remote locking?
No idea :)
Literally i juat have the blue and green wires from both actuators connected together and then into the main unit!!! I dont have the main 5 wire actuator (white, brown, black) wired in, as i believe this is just so when the driver door locks it also locks the passenger door.

You could try connecting only the main actuator and see what happens, it looks like the other actuators work off the main one. Have a look at the links above to see if they help

Really appreciate the help...

Correct me if Im wrong, but relays are only needed if it is NOT going through main unit?
I really don't get any of this at all, a real novice... trying to lookup on Google but making me more confused :(
if ya still need relay not sure how to connect actuators via relay to main unit ????
Can you explain to a complete braindead individual :)
