Voltmeter

I appreciate this is probably a very dumb-ass post ...... but I'm going to post it anyway!

Bought one of these in Halfords a few months ago, to check a few things in the cars (including battery voltage). I've never used it, because I read the small "manual" that accompanied it, and it may as well have been written in Chinese for the sense that it made to me! Anyone have a quick "Idiots Guide" on how I use this. There are so many options round the edge, I'm looking for someone to say "set the switch to here - they go test voltages". I'm hoping it's that simple.

Thanks,
Graham.

Turn the switch to the 20 on the left for car “dc” test , to the right for household “ac” .
You tube https://youtu.be/uA8eXzUAGpw might be a little hard to understand the accent

Here’s another guy on YouTube with a bit more helpful information, again, the accent is a bit hard to get ( possible Asian/Aussie mix)

As Pops said, the voltage section to the left of "Off" is DC volts and therefore, for your car measurements. The voltage section on the right of "Off" is for AC, usually domestic or mains voltage. The bottom left hand section is for measuring Ohms i.e. resistance. This handy for determining shorts and open circuits.

Great - thanks for the replies. Will go watch the clips on Youtube and see if it makes more sense to me!

(tho after watching the NA vs ND clip, I could again get suckered into spending an inordinate amount of time watching one clip after another, after another .....)
