How to keep mice out of MK4 heater duct

Postby TOM 5252 » Tue, 04 Oct 2022 7:37 +0000

I fixed a metal mesh over the otherwise wide open air intake duct.
Here is the write-up. http://www.mx5ireland.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&p=69951#p69951

The air intake is found under this cowl grill, at the centre of the picture

I thought I should put this link here, to be more easily found by anyone worried about rodent squatters.

Very good, prevention is better than the cure

Exactly, I have never seen any signs of mice in my garage yet, but
prevention is always a good idea. It's surprising that Mazda didn't fit
some kind of grill there to deter vermin.
I virtually just copied what these guys in the US posted.

They have to work around the window washer tube, but it's easier for
us, as the duct is on the other side of the car. Also they didn't seem to
have realised that you can un-button the rubber weatherstrip from the
clips first, and then easily manipulate them out of thier holes. You then
button them into the holes in the rubber strip ready for re-assembly.
