New stereo/alternatives info?

Postby Steve » Thu, 17 Mar 2011 10:11 +0000

My current stereo (Parrot Rhythm and blue) is dead (or as good as)... so I'm shopping.
Whats the latest and greatest in stereos? When I was shopping for the Parrot it was bluetooth, mp3 + sd card slot.

Am thinking the criteria should be something like :
Not interested in Satnav/popout screens (Android phone),
No jumping Dolphins/undecipherable frontend, keep it simple-ish,
USB or SD input (pref USB so I can recharge phone/other stuff),
Bluetooth streaming and call answering,
no need for a cd if have the above,
no need for a radio either if have the above.

ok... so.. based on the above.. should I just be looking for an amp with bluetooth/3.5mm cable?

Thanks!

*edit
just found this : http://infiniteelectronix.com/earthquak ... input.aspx
Looks like the job.

You know how you can buy component stereo systems? I often wondered why car audio never really went the same way(except for stand - alone amps)...can I patent that idea???

Went with the Novero after a demo, good sound + just a small screen and controller.

I have to say I am a fan of Sony. My head unit has been in the car five years now unused, its been damp, mouldy, hot and all the things it shouldnt and when i power up the car the amp and cd player always work. Ive even blown the ECU and the head unit was still ok.. I like the idea of these:

No CD player and a place to store your mp3 where the cd tray normally was. Nice idea. Probably pricey though..
