losing my memory

Postby barney » Fri, 30 Apr 2010 9:35 +0000

new stereo fitted recently , but every time i remove the keyfob with the immobiliser attached the unit loses its memory. i think that the immobiliser bullet, when removed is like a battery isolation switch. used spare key with no fob, but don't even get ignition lights. wondering should i even bother looking for a constant live but it's a pain re-setting stations every time i get into car. anybody got any ideas where i could find a constant live without going back to battery?

Swap the yellow-wire with the red-wire - the ISO standard is a bit messed up when it comes to the ACC (IGN) and +12V permanent connections, some radios expect the red to be +12v perm and yellow to be ACC, and others expect the opposite

read this on another post fairly recently and tried it today but to no avail. i think the immobiliser fob acts as a battery cut off. if that makes any sense. when i tried key on its own without having the fob in the car the ignition lights didn't even come on .
