Gearshift boot Mazda MX5,1989-2005

Postby Diarmuid » Fri, 21 Mar 2014 5:55 +0000

Hey,
I decided to get the Silicone Gear boot from Mx5 Doctor and I emailed him about the shipping and he now sells the Upper and Lower boot (€44 Shipped). I hear they are much better than the old rubber ones so if anyone wants it mail him at
info@doctormx5.com

Diarmuid ,hate to give you bad news but the lads on MX5NUTZ reckon there are not great even though I bought a few and seemed ok.Some people had trouble with them tearing but on the photo,s they showed the tail of the gearbox was too high and the silicone boot snags it and tears.Your tail gearbox settings are ok so should be no issue hopefully.Let me know if you have any issues as I know Doctor MX5.

Thanks for the heads up Rob, I did some reading and the majority seemed happy, well happier over the OEM as it seems to last pissing time. Ah it's worth a try I reckon
I'll post some pics when I get it.

Yeah, mine have held up fine after a year.
The standard Mazda units don't last more than 6 months.

I fitted the upper and lower boot from Dr MX5 and I have to say they made a massive difference, the gear change is very silky now. Recommended buy for anyone who has they gear boot gone (which is prob most people in the club)
