All
Unfortunately the mx-5 was broken into last night and crashed Its in the garage now getting a detailed assessment of the damage but its looking like its a write-off
I'm just putting this up incase anyone has any interestin taking it off me for parts or to restore or whatever. I will have a full report Monday on the damage to post up. For now I will put up the details I know of
1990 Mariner Blue about 100k on the engine Timing belt & water pump were done last year regularly serviced recent brake pads all round Body work is very clean for the age of the car Its an after market manifold and full exhaust (not sure what make) cusco coilovers brand new 15" white mulitspoke alloys. plenty of tread on the tyres Standard cloth interior
Damage that I know of: momo steering wheel has been cut front passenger side indicator is broken (pop headlights are ok) front bumper and front wing willl need some attention (paint and reshaping) passenger side door lock will need replacing ignition will need to be sorted out
Not sure until I get the report what damage is done to suspension, chassis etc. It was the passenger side fron crash
Good parts would be the full interior (apart from steering wheel) both doors are undamaged including the windows (apart from passenger side lock) hood is in good condition Everything further back is undamaged and unmarked
If any is interested let me know. I'd prefer to get rid of the whole car rather than break it. I'm putting a pick up from when we bought it (from webcars).
I will put up other pics this evening before the crash and the good points and monday a full report and pics if possible
Cheers Dave

Thats a bummer altogether. Hope the little bast**ds broke their necks I assume you want to get rid of it in 1 piece as opposed to breaking it yourself, will all be down to the insurance company I suppose. Just seen your intentions on 2nd reading Hope it pans out in your favour and maybe you'd be in the market for a replacement...it's a great time to be buying a car at the moment John

feck - sorry to hear about that. Hope the f****rs end up wrapped around a lamp post some time...
Anyway, I guess your car would be worth about EUR400 as salvage, and the insurance company should give you first refusal on buying it off them. Suspension and body parts aren't that expensive, but if the engine was damaged (easy to find out) or if the clutch was screwed up (again, easy to find out) then it's going to be expensive.
Still, cracking looking car - especially with the lowered suspension and the black wheels !
It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world

Sorry to hear your bad news. Hello, Im going to restore my beloved mx5, its been standing for a long time and could do with parts from your car, do you know how much you are looking for it yet? Funds arn't great at the moment so if you could be reasonable it would make so as I could afford it. Tel. 091 847777 or 0860514591 Thanks, mike, Galway

Im in Loughrea, I was at a wedding one day and when I came out to the car park someone had reversed into the front wing driver side of my car, I suspect it was a tall jeep and he did not even see my little mx5 as he was reversing, needless to say he drove off. I didn't claim as I am paranoid about how difficult it was for me to get insurance for a soft top in the first place, i didnt want a big loading or a refusal on re-insuring. I parked the car up when I got home and did not drive it as I was so disgusted at what had happened and time went by and I got sidetracked, but now the time has come to breath life back into her again! We go back a long way, to 1994, (its a 91) and I would not part with it, I have many happy memories with her.
