I have removed this from my 5, you will see from my other post I was not able to fit the replacement mast to it. I now have Halfords rear roof aerial fitted.
I was not able to get the drive cable on the mast to wrap round far enough on the big wheel inside before it would be trapped on the little gaps around the big wheel. To be honest I didn't try too hard.
The motor is working and the clogs inside are turning, but you may need to mess with it a bit to get the mast drive cable to wind on correctly, I can't be bothered with it and have removed it.
If someone want to make me an offer on it. I am also listing it on ebay.
No returns if you can't get the cable on as I couldn't.

Did you remove the broken bit of cable from the drive wheel?
Remove the little bolt in the center of the wheel and the cover will come off.. then you be able to see/take out the broken bit. This will allow you to fit the new mast.

I have removed the old broken bit of cable after opening it up.
I opened it again to see what was happening when the cable would not feed down with the hard push, and discovered that is was not managing to get far enough round the large cog before it got stuck.

If the mast is broken then you can get a replacement, and in theory you should be able to fix it like I tried.
I have a mast for sale too....
I got a rear halfords roof aerial and replaced it with that.....

I have a 2001 2.5 which has a static aerial but looks as if it had an electric aerial at some time. Not sure if your one would work on my car (or work at all!!), but I might be willing to take a chance if the price was right?
How much are you looking for the mast and motor? Would I need anything else to replace mine?

This was the first thing I replaced on my Mk2 when I got it in 2006.
I bought this one. It's super easy to fit and simply brilliant.
