Gaz Performance Coilovers.

Postby Fergus » Tue, 15 May 2012 3:37 +0000

I have these Gaz Performance Coilovers which I bought from Mx5 Parts back in July 2009, they have less than 1,000 miles on them and are in 100% perfect condition.

I paid over 647 euros for these and as they do not suit my needs now (as they are not suitable for a high-end Turbo SPORT setup) I'm putting them up for sale at 500 euros. Full Ride-Height adjustable and in pristine condition.

Here's some pics of when I got them, they look the same today :D

How are they not suitable? I have heard great things about these.

Yes they are great but I've 16" deep dish alloys and wide arches on my car and it's also Turbo'd to the max so they do not work out for my setup. I have not heard any bad remarks about these Gaz coilovers on Mx5Ireland (except for my own Turbo setup) or over on Mx5Nutz if you have a standard car or a car with deep dish alloys that is not Turbo'd etc.

Think about this - accelerating under 10-12PSI of Boost (that CAN spin the rear wheels in 5th gear), these are not suitable for my setup but are for a car that is not Turbo'd to the max

There is way to much pressure of downforce when accelerating with 10-12PSI of boost with my car.

Mmmm, still don't understand how these are a problem for your setup or how a different set of coilovers would improve it. Anyway somebody else should take advantage of the fact they are for sale.

Thanks for the comment !
You can get this type of Gaz Coilover on Ebay for around 609 Euro, or from Mx5Parts for close to 679 Euro.
So yes this is a 'club price' that I've posted here for our members

Note: I do not advise using these shocks on a car with 16" Deep Dish alloys that is 'dropped to the floor' as you'll be running a very very hard drive. A standard car - yeah no problems, drop it down and away you go

Fergus,

Sorry to butt in on a for sale threat. In the first picture there is a bag of what look like inserts. Are they for the loop eye at the bottom of the coilover? Might explain why the coil overs I bought second hand do not fit.

Thanks

John

No probs at all :D

YES, there are TWO inserts per shock - an insert goes into EACH SIDE of the shocks lower bolt hole, then the shock gets placed into the lower wishbone and bolted into place.

Are you missing your ones ? The guys in Gaz should be able to send you some

Anytime dude !
There is one of the Gaz guys over on the Mx5nutz forum in the UK that you could PM, he helped me out when I first got these shocks as they didn't come with any installation instructions, he's a good guy and very easy to chat with

What size wheels are you running and how low do you want to go ?

If your running with standard 14" or 15" wheels then I will have a 'complete' setup for sale soon which drops the car by around 30mm, if gives a gap from the top of the tyre to the wheel arch of around 1" - 1.5" depending on what setting you dial into the shocks and what tyres you have on. And the drive quality is smooth, put the foot down and it's awesome.

It is my (best fun so far) setup - 4 KYB AGX (8 way) Adjustable shocks with 4 Eibach Sports Springs including 4 topmounts.

I've never ever heard that about KYBs on an Mx5, perhaps your talking about KYBs on another car or the 'standard' non-adjustable ones ?
These have been on my Turbo'd car for a few years and I've had really great fun with them (and the springs) during that time over the Killarney/Galway/Wicklow Runs with no probs at all
They never faded on my car. Check out those Club Runs in the forum, I think I've some UTube videos posted up there.
