NCT woes

Postby ShaneC » Sat, 07 Feb 2009 3:02 +0000

Hi,

my 2001 Mk2.5 (NL) import failed the NCT because the headlights point the wrong way (no surprise there). I've been trying for many months to pick up a 2nd hand set of headlights that point the right way but to no avail (the idea of paying 800 euros for a new set that may or may not fit doesn't sit very well with me :(). Anybody got any suggestions?...

Thanks, Shane

Headlights

Postby MeathMazdaMan » Mon, 09 Feb 2009 12:06 +0000

I should have set RHD headlight covers from a broken lug set, you can mod yours, you need a very specalised bit of kit a "zanussi oven" and a "little patience" to change the lens covers over, little bit messy but a very simple solution, been there done that on a car that came in from belgium last year, its also a great opportunity to create a unique set of clear lens when you have your covers off, Let me know if you need the covers or you could just borrow a complete set of lamps for the test as new 2.5 lamps are damn expensive items if you are forced to buy 2 i will source you a used set, if mazda parts etc wants both arms and just a leg for new ones, P

When I moved from NL to the Isle of Man in 1996 I bought lens covers and with these I passed the test and got IoM plates.
I can't remember where I got them, but hope these links will help:

Maybe send an email to mx5parts. Since they have a lot of contacts they might be able to source some for you.
