Cog mechanism for electric aerial

Postby Amri » Sat, 26 Mar 2011 5:40 +0000

Hi all,

My aerial has started to die - it goes up alright but it won't come down again, sounds like the mechanism is slipping - the motor is whirring away but nothing happens.

We tried replacing the actual aerial part and the long plastic thing with the grips on it (LOL, technical explanation), but same thing happens.

I think we may have to look at replacing some of the cogs from inside the motor mechanism. Does anyone happen to have one of these motors (even a broken one) lying about somewhere so we could buy/borrow some of the parts? I'm in South Dublin.

Thanks a mil :)

Cog mechanism for electric aerial

Did you take the motor apart? When I did mine I had to strip it to get all the little bits of broken plastic out.

Yeah did take it apart, it was well clogged with oil and crap but even after cleaning it out and replacing the mast, it was still slipping ... any ideas?

No problem. I'm fitting a stubby aerial instead, similar to the mk3.

Nice - they look well alright. I'm still however enjoying the novelty of a retracting aerial (when it works) so will do my best to get this fixed!

Let me know when you're sorted with the new one and i'll arrange to collect when it suits. You're in Dublin aren't you?
