Right, I've made a decision.
It looks like I'm not gonna be able to restore the mk2 to an acceptable ( NCT) condition without spending a LOT of time/money on it. The tin-worm problem has now shown its real colours..f*ckin' rampant..sills/suspension..all underside. It had been disguised quite well by a previous owner, and I was aware that there was an issue, but when I got to start at the sills I was horrified. So, what next? Haven't decided whether to break it, sell as a unit or do some repair and keep it for track ( maybe once or twice a year).
In the meantime, I don't want to go through the Summer without one, so I'm officially in the market for an mx5, think I'll revert to the Eunos mk1. The 1991 mk1 that I cut up had absolutely NO rust issues, the 1999 mk2 ( from the UK) really turned out to be a pile of sh*te!!
Keep your eyes open,.
John
