Thanks but there are only a few knocking about for my budget. I am viewing one on Sunday morning out in carlow, a 93' one and the owner is telling me in advance who won't drop a penny below 2,250. Is that too expensive for a 93 with 105k on the clock?

Well, I purchased a mk2, '99 1.8 for not much more than your budget, take a look at the car but DO NOT buy it before you try at least 6 others. Don't panic if you don't see many for sale at your budget, look at some just above, even to 3k, and get a feel for the market. Asking price rarely is the eventual sale price, and if i were you I'd be inclined to keep that guy who's refusing to negotiate on the back burner..buying a car is like playing poker....don't allow the seller to see you're hand, don't tell him how much you're willing to spend!!

You got a bargain there I reckon! Are MX5's in demand this time of year? I would have imagined it's a bad market for them this time of the year and figured if I want one I should get one now while the weather is still bad.
I only seen one so far which was a pig with lipstick, hoping the next one will be nicer. I'll have a look at 3 or 4 more anyways, I'm still trying to get a feel as to what these cars are like to drive. I might have a poke about on the forum and see if someone will let me drive theres so I have somthing good to compare my ventures to.

I'd say it could be bought cheaper then the advertised price, might be within your budget then.
Insurance shouldn't be much more, roadsters seem to be very insurance friendly.

I'd suggest that you go look at that red mk2, it's a very reasonable price and you should be able to knock a little off the advertised..there's a check list elsewhere on the forum of what to look out for......

I called about it, seller said it was in good condition but had a rip in the hood. It's for sale because he can't insure it.

I went out to look at a 93 eunos today and the owner was just messing me about the place. Told me the car had 2 yr nct and it turns out he had it booked in for the test so it had no Nct on it! Told me the car had 105k miles on it and it turned out it had nearly 130k! Can't translate his km into miles so it seems.Clown..
He expected me to give him nearly 2k for it lol.
