**DIFF WANTED**

Postby shaneh » Mon, 16 Apr 2012 6:50 +0000

i welded my diff up yesterday and the stub shaft rung inside it and ruined all the teeth on the splines.
wouldnt have done it only the circlip asnt seated perfect.
now i need another 93 1.6 diff for welding.
must be cheap.
if a 1.8 one will just bolt in il take that too but im not sure.
thanks,
shane

easy mistake. You must make sure the shafts are in the diff and the hubs properly. Its recommended that you use new c-clips.

ye it was unfortunate but what can you do.
i think il get a new pair of circlips next time round alright.
could save all the hassle.
i rang robert (autocheck i think) and he said he has a diff and shafts there but its the type without the 2 little stub shafts. does anyone know if that will fit in my hubs and propshaft ok?

if they are one piece axles from a 1.6, yes it should, at least I had no problems.
I've had both types of axles with 1.6 diffs. Maybe bring the old one with you?

Not sure about 1600's but doesn't make a difference on the 1800's. Later 1 piece shafts were a lot cheaper to produce. Think they changed after '94 or so.

good stuff.
il take the pair off you if you have them.
are they viscous or open? either will do i think as the diff is welded and the longer part of the viscous shaft isnt needed.
can you give me a rough price for the 2?

wont be a whole lot as i dont need them . If they are there i have 2 . From a 1.8 with Torsen T1 Diff so should fit an open ok. Bring the old one with you lad.
