Looking for a late MK1 1.8...

Postby franksm » Thu, 22 Nov 2012 10:04 +0000

Hi folks

Looking for a late MK1 1.8 with no rust. I'll be transplanting the oily bits off my own car, so something with a good body and a broken engine would be ideal.

Has to be Irish registered too, but don't care if tax is up-to-date or not.

Anyone link me up ?

Cheers
Frank

Hi Frank..I take it the restoration on your own car was not gonna be cost-effective?? Good luck with the search..give Robert in Swords a shout.....

Thanks lads - main reasons are that the Yibber has been spending too much time up North and I want it back :-)
However I would need to VRT it, which is about EUR1000 (before they even start looking at the extras on the car), so isn't worth doing.

I'd rather spend a grand on an Irish car, swap the turbo etc in, and let me sister keep using the Yibber in Belfast minus the turbo. The rust on that car is pretty bad, there's maybe another couple of years before it comes back through the panels that were welded on last year. Such a bad design, the sills on these cars. I won't be driving on the sand in Galway any time soon ;-)

Will drop you a PM about that shell, that might be the other way of sorting things out !
