K&N filter and cat bypass pipe

Postby turismo2142 » Mon, 22 Apr 2013 10:46 +0000

Hi guys, looking for second hand decent examples of the above. Rather not drop the full whack for them on mx5parts if possible.

You need to give more information than that Dude. What type of K&N filter are you looking for ? A standard air filter box replacement or a cone filter, or for a Turbo/Supercharger setup then what size/shape are you looking for to fit there ?

For the Cat Bypass - is it Mk1 or for a Mk2 ? There are loads of ones out there all of different sizes.

Hey, I'm just trying to help you get the correct parts that you want

keep in mind that the decat can be very noisy ,I have a new one just fitted but thinking of going back to a cat and the decat is supposed to be silenced! looks really good s/s ,but toooooo noisy
Mine wont fit your car as its for a 1.8 english mk1
Keep the noise in mind ,have a f&n cone as well, prob dosent help.
Same "power" increase is achived by drilling 2 large holes in base of standard fliter box and fitting f&n panel filter.
Best of luck

Thanks guys. Sorry didn't think anyone bothered with box filter replacements so I didn't specify. And I imagine 99.99% of mx5s/eunos/miatas are naturally aspirated so again it never occurred to me to be more specific ;-p... Only kidding Fergus...your car is nothing short of awesome...I read your project build thread from start to finish....impressive! Not sure my misus would let me use my living room as a spray booth though. :-)

I've a 1.6 '92 eunos, which would make it a mk1/na.

I'm aware the cat replacement makes more noise...merlot, is it really that much worse? I should prob have a listen to someone else's first then.

Jay, I thnk your old cars getting a full respray and new hood at some stage. Saw it today. Fundamentally sound car. I'll give you a bell about the induction kit. Since I posted last night I've developed some ignition problems with my 1.6. I've not looked into it yet though. It's an intermittent misfire. Its bad on startup and can then come and go. I don't think it's the leads as when I disconnect them individually the cylinder drops for each one but it remains rough/lumpy afterwards. Haven't looked at plugs yet. I'll pop up another post if I can't figure it out.

Btw, do you have photos of those rims by any chance? I'd sooner get my three year old daughter to successfully perform brain surgery than get an intelligible description from my old man.
