Looking for a Roadster to love

Postby witless_steve » Fri, 23 Dec 2016 12:01 +0000

Hello everyone,
I'm looking to change the ole chariot next year and thought I've reached that milestone age where a convertible becomes increasingly hard to resist the allure to buy. So I thought I'd be sensible and check with a group of owners to see what my chances of a successful hunt are.

SWMBO is perfectly willing to switch a topless roadster but wants a power roof instead of a soft top.
I figured I'd ask for any recommendations or if anyone knew of a good source to obtain one.

Well known and documented engine issues with NC models(2006 onwards).Oil burners and crank/conrod issues.Beware !! Used engines sell for 1500e and they are in short supply.

The MK3 PFHT is the one you're looking for as Pops said above - made from 2006-2014 with 2 facelifts in between & either having a 1.8L or 2L engine. Or if you've got between 35-39K to spend on a new car, the 2017 MK4 RF that's just been released looks the business & is a retractable "targa-top"/hard-top.

How new/old are you hoping to go? And do you have a preference between the 1.8L or 2L?
