Mk1 1 1.8 engine

Postby leamyj » Sun, 13 Sep 2020 2:23 +0000

Well hello everyone!! It's been a while :)

As the subject suggests, I'm in the market for an engine for my track car..1.8 mk1..
If you have one, or know of where I might source one then please PM me or message me on 087 2656053.
I've already been in discussions with Robert, and as of right now he doesn't have a 1.8 mk1.

No problem sourcing a 1.6, a V8?.Don’t think my budget would stretch that far

John, have you tried any of these?

Presume you've tried Traynor's?
I see a couple on ebay.ie but from NBs ... not sure if you want to go that route?

Hi Steve, How's things? Good , I hope.
Yeah, putting in a mk2 1.8 engine is an option as there seems to be a bit of a scarcity of good 1.8 mk1 engines..only tricky thing is the wiring,ECU, exhaust etc..not sure they're all compatible..
The engine overheated at idle, not at speed, so am thinking of a rebuild too
No big rush on any of this either as there's a shortage of trackdays due to covid!!

Yeah all good here
Might be worth throwing a head gasket on it if the thermostat is working ok. Did you have anyone look at it?
