Salthill

Went to Galway, then on to Salthill afterwards, last Sunday..... and it was CRAMMED. its like there was an organised "drive by" along the sea front. Some very nice cars on show. Spotted 4 MX5s, but only got to photograph 3 of them... missed the bright (lime?) green one with a DL reg.

You missed me as well, I didn't know about "salthill sundays" as they're calling it but I went to the cemetery in bohermore and on the way I met a few modified cars such as a passat that was as good as scraping the ground and a altezza and BMW that appeared to be lost. The traffic was terrible mostly due to the amount of modified cars, I had planned to pass through salthill on a Sunday spin but changed my mind due to the traffic, instead I enjoyed the rain showers in the oughterard area.
Have a search on Facebook for salthill Sundays for some more information and complaints

It is a shame for a organised event to cause so much controversy, we used to get the "boy racers" on the rally weekends and various evenings throughout the year but this event has been the worst, have a look at galway bay fm app news section, it seems that among all the complaints that the mayor and organisers are trying to come to a solution.
Personally, I'm all for the event but I do remember the couple of years in the distant past when we had near riots here with the boy racers during rally weekend.
80 motoring offences detected and 1 car seized out of the "thousands" that were here last Sunday, I wonder if the guards had the manpower to check every car leaving the blackbox car park how many of them would be legally roadworthy

Looking back at your pictures, they all have the roof up, mine was down, even when I got caught in the rain ☔

True! And the weather was good - in fact, the only one I spotted with the roof down was the green DL reg (the one I didn't get a photo of!).

A few more of them around today, supposedly there was a constructive pow wow between the city council and the salthill Sundays group

Whats the latest on this do you know Pops?
From what I've read, the organisers weren't doing themselves any favours when addressing the criticism, hope they found some solution.

Haven't heard anything since, city mayor Mike Cubbard was trying to sort it but the term of office of the mayor has changed so the new mayor might have change of priorities, cycling for instance.
I believe the same group and a few more have caused havoc around letterkenny lately so will be interesting to see the government response

Was in Amsterdam a few weeks ago - they really have a penchant for classic cars, but these were the only two MX5s I grabbed photos of:

Looks like the rust is getting at the silver one, green car looks nice but there's something very distracting in the background
