I just had time to grab a quick photo .. in Athlone this afternoon. Looked very well kept.

That car was along for a Galway run a few years ago, I see him now and again in Galway, v.nice car.

His name is Padraig geraghty, sound fella, he's a mate of mine and that car is the reason I bought an mx5, I just loved it, a sunny day in may, plenty of sunburn and shortly after a mariner blue project car

How bad are these Mk2's as regards rust ?? I've been reading about the chassis rail issues that they suffer from. Is it just UK cars or do original Irish cars suffer too ?
Part of me is partial to the refinement of a nice Mk2.5.......

In Belfast on Friday night (actually spotted THREE MX5's on the same stretch of road within a space of 5 minutes (a MK2 and another MK3 - but these two drove past me before I could get the phone out).

Oh they all suffer from both front chassis rails and rear sills.Some are worse than others and there are the ones that have almost no rust but getting scarce enough now.The front rails fault was Mazda problem in the way they designed the rail itself .Rail held the water and rotted from inside outwards so when it shows it can be bad. Sills rust is common to all cars from 1989 onwards.Some clean Irish and Jap imports are very clean but ex UK cars are rotten big time.Steer clear of them despite how clean they can look externally

So Rob, are original Irish Mk2's less likely to have the chassis rails rotten ? I believe this has caused alot of UK cars to be scrapped.

Blue 1 is my bus. A cleaner a MK2.5 would be hard found
