Well i just had to add to this section today 14 March. went to collect her good self down at her sisters place in Urlingford Co. Kilkenny. As it was such a nice day decided to drop the hood down and let some wind through my hair etc.
While driving down the main road N.8 and adhering to the speed limits approaching Durrow travelling at 80 Kmh i noticed a 4x4 up my backside if this guy could get any closer he be in my passenger seat. He proceded to overtake me when theres was on coming traffic pulled back and proceeded to overtake on the inside (hard Shoulder) this guy was in a hell of a hurry. He finally got a chance to pass me when all was clear and he sat on the horn . This is not the first time i encountered a problem on this road had same problem with a non national last year only this time i was driving my van. People will never learn to respect other road users i think road manners is gone out the door

That's a bit uncalled for alright. I hate when I'm stuck behind someone thats going slower than how I want to go, but I'd never do something that stupid. Driving back yesterday evening there were a few people doing some stupid things to save just a minute or two (overtaking on corners etc)

I wonder does the fact we drive with the top down have a bad effect on some people.
Last Saturday evening I was driving to Kinnegad from Dublin and took the old road for a leisurely drive down.
I was keeping to the speed limit and not doing anything wrong when I noticed a Red Ford Transit about 2 feet from my back bumper .
He then overtook me and was very close to me while doing so and then almost took the front off my car as there was an on coming car.
I was so annoyed I rang the Guards with his Reg No which is something I would not normally do.
What really worried me was that there was 3 guys in the the van and I was on my own.
Its not a nice feeling in these times.

Hi maz fan, I always find that ppl need to 'prove' that their car is faster than mine, and they need to make sure I know that mine is not a 'real' sports car - reving and racing coming off lights, crazy overtaking etc. I'll be there just rolling my eyes and not caring

I agree with that alright and its quite dangerous to get into any type of confrontation on the road these days.
A friend of mine who is a Guard was on his way to work recently and was cut up by another car.
He proceeded to stop the other car and then identified himself as a Guard on his way to work.
He was abused continously by the other driver even at this point and the driver appeared to have totally lost it.
It eventually ended up that he had to rang his colleagues and they arrested him.
My point is that if a person is prepared to hurl abuse at a Guard in that situation what hope do any of us have.

You should always report these to the police later when you're stopped - use the Trafficwatch number.
Also, this is why I keep a collection of pennies handy - they make a nice pinging noise off the offending car
