Brake upgrade

Postby fabfiveferg » Thu, 28 May 2009 9:57 +0000

Figure doing something about the brakes might be a good idea with the extra power.

Any ideas on whether I should go for grooved discs (I see some Turbo grooved discs on MX5parts) or should i be looking to pick up some 1.8 calipers and discs second hand. Fooked if I'm paying for new ones. Far too pricey

Go for the 1.8s

Converting to drilled/etc disc on the 1.6 is only going to give marginal improvement. The 1.8s are a bigger size, bigger surface area so are already at an advantage.

Just don't go for Greenstuff pads, or you'll need to buy a helper-monkey to scrub the cack off the wheels every other day.

Theres something about only needing the caliper brackets to do the conversion.. not the calipers themselves.. and then something about putting the rear right on the left and the left on the right .... or was it the fronts.. :? ;-)

Aha heres the link
