Engine Oil

Postby SADriver » Wed, 06 Aug 2008 11:00 +0000

hey all,

I'm looking at replacing my oil filter tonight and was wondering. What is the best oil to put in my 5 mk1?

I'm looking at 5W40

is that good or will 0W40 work better?
Never knew what fun was till I found the MX5

Have you got a turbo in it?

If Not Castrol GTX Magnetic 10w40 it what i found best
stops the cam rattle on start up.

I think 0w40 would be way too thin.

I still use Magnatec 10w40 with my turbo (as does Frank), fab stuff!

Its v.predictable, lasts the 3k miles between oil changes, usually when you hear a rattle on start up with this oil you know thats when you change it again. ;-)
