Re: My Mini charged 5love the colour! Those wilwood's look impressive, are you doing fronts and rears ?
Re: My Mini charged 5Thanks
Wilwoods on front, maybe 1.8 sport rears.
Re: My Mini charged 5The Wilwoods went on today. BIG difference compared to 1.8 fronts and carbon Lorraine RC6 pads. Very happy.
anybody interested in 1.8 front setup with braided line and above pads with 60% + left on them?
Re: My Mini charged 5Would ya sell the pads and lines seperate or pm me a price on full set
Re: My Mini charged 5Little update,
After a trackday in Jan I found I had used more oil than I thought. Nothing on the dipstick and a bit of knocking from the engine! It had developed a stem seal problem in the last year and was blowing blue smoke sometimes on 1st start but I didn't think it was too bad. So roll on trackday in Feb and 1st session out it started to knock bad and the oil pressure was fluctuating under load. Came in and heard a loud knock from the engine. Called it a day and limped home. So after thinking about fixing it, replacing with another 1.6 I decided to put in a 1.8 I regreted that decision a few times as a 1.6 would have been much easier but its in and running. I put back in the COP's as I would have needed a new bracket for my original coils. Rang kilcock breakers and asked for 'toyota coil on plugs'? Kilcock- What year and car'? Me- any toyota, its for a special build and I have a faulty one to match Kilcock - Is it going in a Mazda? Me - (very surprised) eh yeah, how did you figure that out Kilcock- a lad came in during the week looking for same !! Anyway after modifying the charger bracket, extending the CAS wiring, welding a bung in the exhaust, ordering a new throttle body adaptor from flyin miata and a few other things its back running again in time for the sunny weather and Anglesea trackday in April. I'm a happy man. I hadn't driven it for 2 months and its such a cracking little car.
Re: My Mini charged 5Passed the NCT today, after taking off the window tint on side windows. It was too hard to see through it at night anyway.
Took it to work as a reward and took the long way home. Top down all day. 200Km
Re: My Mini charged 5Fair play on NCT, car is a credit to you.

Anglesey coastal circuit last weekend. Went through a set of tyres and front pads, but the engine change worked perfect. No issues. Epic weekend, did the EVO triangle and a few other welsh roads on the Friday and track days on Sat and Sun.
Re: My Mini charged 5nice, what a day for it. Did you trailer the car or drive it over?
Re: My Mini charged 5Hi Steve,
I drove over with a couple of other Irish cars. It was a cracking 2 days. We did the tunnel on the way home. Ferrari 360 with a sports exhuast (wow) Alfa GTA V6 and a R32 golf (both with sports exhausts) filled the tunnel and made us all giggle. I recorded it on go pro but the camera's mic isnt as good as its lens.
Re: My Mini charged 5A little update
The wilwoods worked great in anglesey until the BP10 pads that came with them wore from 50% to 0 in 3 sessions. I had RC6's with me so swapped them in. Huge improvement again. Now shortage of stopping power or fade or overheating brakes. They can lock up in the dry easy enough. Did another Octane trackday last Fri with another newly Supercharged Mk2 RS. The other car went really well, no surprise as the instal was a top job. Great craic mixing with it and a S2000 on track. The charger belt (original 4 years old) gave up during the day, but a new one was quickly installed. https://youtu.be/zpuYE6p30Kc
Re: My Mini charged 5Nice, v.v.smooth driving. The S2000 looked like it was holding you up
Funny to see yourself and Piers coordinating place swops too.
Re: My Mini charged 5Brief update. I did the open day on 3rd of January, good fun and no messers out on track. Finished off the rc6's on the front. Thought I'd get longer out of them, but they don't come with a lot of material so 3-4 track days, about the same as tyres.
Piers cajoled me into doing the multi venue auto test in Mondello on the 24th. Regs say no boosted cars so I just cable tied the bypass open and auto tuned the fuel map. It was probably down on power having to turn the charger and suck air through the small bypass but it done the job. I didn't matter, it was great craic and I'll do them again. As mentioned elsewhere, I have been thinking of trying a turbo set up. It wouldn't take much to change over as most of the normal extra bits are already done. I.e ecu, inter cooler, injectors, clutch, wideband
