Clutch advice

Need a new clutch soon,
checked out:
Exedy for 328 euro from mx5mad
Act from mx5 parts for 326 euro

these are both stage 1 clutches, but a lot of money when you factor in fitting.

Do i need this much clutch on a greddy at 6psi or coluld i get away with a good sachs kit?

The most i will be adding in terms of power over the next while is the FMIC.

Not sure what torque i'm making now.

Main stuff: d-cat - 2.5 cat back SS - Bipes - O2 clamp - FMIC - Greddy at 6psi

I need the clutch done but it needs to be on a budget.
Anyone into a group buy/fit.

If the sachs is a direct replacement for the stock clutch.. I'd go with the Act stage I. A clutch change runs at 200e (or more) if you aren't up for it yourself.

I've an ACT stage II, never had an issue with it and still grabbing fine after 4.5yrs w/GReddy @11psi. Can recommend it!

Have never done a clutch before, but did watch a friend nearly lose his sanity doing his fiat 20v turbo. 200 seems cheap would that be the going rate.

still ads up to over 500 ouch.

If you have a jack, stands + some long extentions it shouldn't be beyond the average spanner swinger.
Not sure if 200e is the going rate but its what I paid here locally (Galway)

Wow clutches are expensive these days.

You can get a exedy for 150euro but that's an OEM spec. All the "Stage 1" kits are going for aroudn 300. I've seen them for 260stg +shipping on fleabay. You could try Murray motorsport in Walkinstown I think they're Exedy agents. Or Icetronix, or Xtreme Autos.

I'd say the Std spec would hold fine under normal driving but it wouldn't like drag starts and drifting.

I'd fit it with you but if we could get a ramp it'd make life a hell lot easier. Benchpressing a gearbox under a car to match the splines is tiring.

My budget is pretty tight at the mo, as i have spent quite a bit in the last few months.
I dont plan to do much drifting and i dont want to explode my diff so i dont really do drag starts.

I did the crankshaft fr oil seal with the last clutch change and a clutch release bearing comes with the kit. Any other bearings i should consider, spiggot etc?

Got a price of 250 for fitting if i supply the clutch.

So stage 1 clutch with fitting will come to around 600
Good std clutch sachs or exedy a little over 400, not so bad.

Thanks geese, dont know anyone with a ramp at the mo. I'd say getting the box out and in without one is a pain in the arse. If you are talking to your mechanic friend will you get me a price for fitting?

Comes to abot 175 euro, still quite a bit cheaper than the stage 1 option.

May have access to a ramp after all, the bro in-law is buying a fixed ramp in two weeks time. Its for his landrover, don't know what the clearance is like for the 5.
