I have no idea why anyone would spend the sort of amounts talked about in this thread.I fitted a turbo with fmic to my 1800 track car for less than £1000

The turbo kit on the track car was sold and removed on Friday night.I'm fitting it for the guy who bought it this coming week he's a member on here and his car is booked to be on a stand at a show this coming weekend at the Kings Hall Belfast. We'll take some pics of it being fitted. It will be running a maximum of 6 psi with an intercooler, rrfpr and timing set at 8 degrees no management whatsoever.

Mr. Alan Tigger at only at 6 PSI with an FMIC kit ?

That's the same as a standard basic Greddy kit - so why FMIC etc ??
The intro Greddy kit doesn't even have an IC let alone an FMIC and is now less than 1000 euro.

I'm not hassling you M8, but I'd just like to know what that turbo kit you have sold to Alan has and for how much as DIY is the way to go from my experience of being turbo'd for over 5 years.

Also, to get a turbo kit and be running at 6PSI when it's second hand your talking about 500 euro (£437 sterling) these days and that's with an IC and tubing etc with Bov.

Hell, a member got a kit from the UK second hand two years ago and was running 8PSI right after the installation for way less and that kit had downpipes and manifold, IC etc.

Don't get me the wrong way M8, you would need to list your kit contents to be able to justify the price etc and if you have some quality parts then alls well....but a second hand turbo kit running at just 6PSI with FMIC ??

Flying Miata don't even manufacture an IC for running just 6PSI.

500 Euro tops & no offense M8.

New manifold,100% good but used Silvia Turbo,Hks intercooler and piping,Suburu Wrx fuel pump, new manual boost controller, downpipe,Mk 2.5 injectors, rrfpr, oil lines and water lines, all clips, brackets and fitting. It's got to be value at £500 GBP considering what you would pay to have it installed and set up.We are aiming for 180 whp on 5/6 psi for now. There is no timing controller being fitted. If Alan wants more all we need is Megasquirt and a few turns on the boost controller. We have a mad 5 running 238 bhp on 7 psi with Hks Pro Con V.We also managed 299.9 bhp on a 1720 cc 5 running 12 psi with manual adjustable timing and fuel controllers..I also managed to blow my 5 on 8 psi from a supercharger.Sure it's all good crack.

Fantastic! Love it! 238hp @ 7psi? Nice!
What did you do to make those numbers? Big straight thru exhaust or is it just down to tuning? Thats about 80hp over what I'd usually think of at 6/7psi..

+1

I would have expected 12+ psi to get that kind of whp

New manifold,100% good but used Silvia Turbo,Hks intercooler and piping,Suburu Wrx fuel pump, new manual boost controller, downpipe,Mk 2.5 injectors

Whats the lag like?
Is it a T25 on the silvia, I think the 5 is better suited to a smaller turbo and reasonable sized IC, may not make as much power but the 5 is never going to be a motorway bruiser, took some twisties with a silvia a while back it was fast once it got going but lots of lag out of the corners.

The T25 running low boost, short intercooler piping and a smallish intercooler isn't really laggy. The track car was thrashed so it was always revving high. We'll know better this week what it's like on the road.Have a look here we have some of our 5's on this site. http://www.madaboutmx5s.com/

Well that's WAY WAY MORE than the standard Greddy kit, more 'bang for the buck' at less than half the price :thumright:

Yeah 'lag', that's something I don't want in my car. Hense why I'm going for the side-by-side route with a Honda Del Sol Rad and MR2 IC with short pipes = BIG BOOST BANG !

I'm STILL waiting on my new bloody downpipe though :bounce:

Do you have lag now Fergus? You shouldn't have with a GReddy.. unless your exhaust or air filter is stifling it or something

How long is their downpipe wait going to be?
