What level of boost?

Postby rhysmate » Tue, 12 Nov 2013 9:33 +0000

Hi lads,

What level of boost are people running successfully? I have 13 psi ish going into mine, i want to know how sustainable it is.

I know the rods in these engines are a weak point, so has any one had any bend and at what boost?

Have been running 11psi (with some jaunts to 13psi) for about 10 years with no internal engine issues/oil burning. I've always had it running a bit rich though to avoid detonation/knock/pinking.
The rods aren't really a weak point, they're just usually the first to go :-D

I have read 14psi is limit for track use with a stock engine.
