My other car is a Renault 5 GT Turbo. It is almost set for the road, after a long time getting it restored. As with the car, what could go wrong, will go wrong and take every other part with it. I had one time when I went to get it NCT-ed and it decided to act like a scared dog and leaked petrol all over the test center.

They are quick. But a bog standard one is fuel efficient and quick. I do have another one, over modified. Its too quick, once the turbo lag is gone. So much so, it minced one of the drive shafts. The best thing is that its not known with the younger boy racers. So they get a small shock at the lights, when the turbo takes a big gulp of air and leaves them guessing what just happened!

True, the Renault 5 is old and there is not many about these days. My first car was a mini, many years ago, before the NCT, it did have a nice rust hole in the passanger floor. I guess the Renault 5 is a small upgrade

I am hoping to have the weekend fixing a few bits on the Renault and get it back on the road soon. The car is mint on the outside the engine looks that too. Just it has a few small worries. Its old but it holds. This is my other car, a project that is forever a project. My aim is to have the engine running again. Just as soon as I can source other parts.

The fun never ends with the Renault. Another failed NCT cause of unsuspecting holes in the floor. Anyone got any ideas on what it will cost to repair. The sill is where the most rust is on the bodywork. The Outer arch has surface rust. I have cut out sections of the rust and the Jacking point to get a better attack on the sill. I am hoping to do some of the cutting and welding myself but I am wandering about the cost of a mig welder for the job. As for the other Renault, the engine is put back together again and it will not start yet. The starter motor gasped and stopped and the oil pressure is very high.

Lotta welding to do , better off re-shelling it. It'll break your heart.

Well the heart is already broken, all that is left to do is pick up the pieces. But I relish the experience.

It’s being a long time since the car has seen tarmac. But I hope to get to drive the black Renault soon, a rebuilt cylinder head and refurbished brakes and soon some tyres. I hope to have it on the road very soon, just to give it a good drive.
As in a few months I get to give the keys back to the previous owner, who chased me down and wants it back. I suppose the question for everybody, is there a car you owned that you would like to own again.
