Locking Wheel Nut Problem

Postby jackmul94 » Thu, 30 Apr 2015 9:18 +0000

Hi lads and lassies,
Need to change the tyres on the mx5 and the chap I bought the car off never gave me the lock nut key to take the locking nut off the car,
Ive brought it to 3 local tyre centres and nobody had anything that could take them off, they tried the lock nut removers, they said only specialists or the original key will remove it.
Just wondering if anyone on here has a similar key, if it happens to be a mazda lock nut? Or if anyone could recommend someone around the Meath/Louth/Dublin/Cavan that specialises in removing them?? ive tried uploading the photo there but it says the file is too large, Its a standard looking wheel nut with three holes in a triangular pattern!!
Thank you!

Even someone would have same type key I'd guess the pattern would be different. Cutting, drilling out seems to be an option. Have you contacted the seller in regards of the key?

Maybe you could make one up. A pic would help but from what you say if you could match some steel rods with the holes weld a socket to them and you'd get a temporary key for the job.

Sorry for the delay in reply! thanks for the replies,
Ended up hammering on a socket and putting a breakers bar onto that and swinging out of the bar and after 1 hour I got the 3 locking nuts off!
