Heading into the Outback!!

Leaving Sydney monday morning flying to Adelaide,picking up a jeep and heading up to Coober Pedy stopping in Port Augusta on route to overnight there.Then heading back down through Maree (cant remember the other place names!) and into the wine region Has anyone else done this route? Myself and girlfriend would really appreciate any tips,places to stay/see etc,we have 10 days to do this so will have to squeeze as much as possible in...thanks guys and girls
