This 'False Widow' Spider (Steatoda Nobilis) is not a native of Ireland and I saw this one back in November 2011, but I didn't even know what it was back then as I've never seen this type of Spider here in Ireland (and I've been here for over 40 years since birth).
I DID know just by looking at it and it's colours to stay well away from it because it was 'looking at me' - I've seen that with HUGE Tarantulas while over in Asia. If a Spider is 'looking' at you and it's got colours (or just a dark black) and it doesn't run away - then it's got a BITE.
This one has been in the news just today about this new venomous spider being found in Cork - this video shows that it's been here since 24th November 2011 !!
