OUCH.... the joys of motoring.

Great that you got such (relatively) good value compared to the dealers. After a few drinkies at your son's wedding you'll have forgotten the pain of the cost!

And finally..

Resolved the door lock issue with a good dose of wd40. Years of dirt and grime had made it's way into the mechanism. Lesson learnt. Will give it a squirt once or twice a year now to keep it in working order.

I would suggest after freeing it up with WD40, apply a light oil, such as 3-in-1 oil, to keep it lubricated. WD40 is not a lubricant and will wear off pretty quick.

I use graphite in sticky door locks - works a treat. I have a bottle of graphite powder, though recently saw a can of graphite spray in Lidl. I presume it's meant to do the same thing.
