Question re 1.6 lsd

Hey guys,

I have a 1996 1.6 and I notice if I'm in low revs in 1st or reverse, it sounds like the wheel is slipping slightly. Is this normal? or is there something wrong with the diff?

Unfortunately I'm a newbie to this, so I don't know much about Diffs and how they may or may not respond so I apologize if it's a dumb question. I've owned RWD cars before and never remember hearing anything like this, but I've never had a car with an lsd in it either.

Any info would be helpful.

Cheers
Jim

Jim,there should be no real noise when reversing .Have you checked gear oil and diff oil levels.Other than that its either bearings or diff. We have gearboxes cheap andbalso LSD diffs suitable for ur car as 1.6 don't normally have Lsd but standardbdiffs are total crap so maybe that's what's wrong. My number ie 086 8226506 Robert (sponsor on this site #Autocheck)

Thanks Robert,

The car doesn't make any noise per say, I can just hear the tyres stuttering on the road.

You sure it is not a welded diff?

Someone else just asked me the same thing. It's possible, I don't know anything about diffs and only got it last week. Will have to get my mate to look at it with me as I wouldn't know how to tell

Get the car moving on full lock, press the clutch down, if the wheel keeps chirping/skipping its welded.
