How to attach hard top

Hi there,

Luckily I came across a hardtop 20 miles away at the weekend, struck a deal and brought it home attached to the 2 front soft top latches.

Yer man gave me the internal sides latches also but have questions on how to attach same as it doesnt' have any markings so do I have to cut through panel? It's a 99 M2.

Also need to get 2 frankenstein bolts and get a re-spray as it's quiet marked along the ages and BRG as opposed to my black 2.

Any advice on fitting, bolts very much appreciated.

Thanks Ann :D

Nice one! Congrats!
Yes, just remove the panel, not difficult, just a couple of screw/small bolts/curses and behind you'll see where the bolts like up. Cut an oval hole that lines up with the bolt holes and large enough so that the latch "sits" into it. I think its actually marked out on the rear of the panel..

Reassemble. Done. ;-)
Shouldn't take more than an hour if you have a dremel tool/small hacksaw.

Thanks Steve, actually jsut sent u a pm.

Have plenty of time to get it ready for winter months thank god..another question is there some weird and wonderful way of puttin on Frankenstien bolts, guy who sold me hard top said that his '96 one's (still on car) wouldn't fit my car of course I said it would and he proceeded to try and take them off and put on mine and honestly it didn't look like they fit, should I have had a different fitting that went bolted into booth or something?

I'll print off ur instructions, very helpful for midlifecrisis next week lol :D :D :D

Cheers
Ann

yeah.. I think some are two-part (or the plastic covering comes off) and get "stuck" with just the top half unscrewing.

Do your current flat bolts unscrew? If so just order up :

Didn't get a PM? Can you resend?
Thanks
