Well finally got round to doing a bit on the alloys i got from Simon on here a while ago, Thanks again Simon.
Heres the progress so far.
In a bad state..... doesn't look like it but they have a polished lip...

A pressure washer did this to them, clearly not the best paint ever...

then some paint stripper applied

They now look like this

I'll be attacking them again in the morning.
Not sure yet weather i will have a go at spraying them myself or if i'll take em to the local bodyshop guy and see how much he would charge.
And still not sure on the colour. I am thinking gunmetal grey with the polished lip.
I'll keep you posted.

What about matt black with the polished lip under a silver car would look cool imo. 8)
You would probally be able to spray them yourself much cheaper.

I'd have to agree Ash. The black looks class on the silver car.

I painted some wheels black during the year and would recommend doing them yourself. I'm no genius and it was super easy. A little sanding, couple of coats of primer, couple of matt black and some lacquer.

Very satisfying job too :) Made me think I was great

Nice work Ash !
You should try spraying them yourself man, it's not that hard at all.
I must start on your alloys soon, I got plenty of time on my hands at the moment and I'm making more 'plans' for the car
I have a feeling there's a huge change on the way.......

Well one of them is finished.....well still need to do the centers. Not the best paint finish i've ever seen but for a first effort its not bad. Good news is i have 3 more to practice on. ;)

Just try doing a VERY light coat, then another, then another etc. Build it up real slow.
Works out FAB !

Looks excellent Ash :D
I think the camera doesn't show it like it really is though, seems to be some orange peel there but I think in the flesh there isn't any at all.
If there is... you can give it a light wet sanding and then another coat 'real light like'.
The trick to spraying is VERY LIGHT coats, over and over and over again. Just build it up SLOW and it'll turn out PERFECT :D
If you get 'blobs' of paint coming out then you've been spraying to long, turn the can upside down and spray against something to clear it out and start over again :D

Cheers for the advice, I'll be more careful with the next ones, been doing that one in the evenings this week and haven't really put as much effort in as i should/could have. Still came out ok but i know i can do better.
Hows your hardtop coming along???
